At the intersection of urban development, sustainable food systems, and education, The Open Dining Hub in Providence aims to cultivate community engagement, promote culinary education, and collaboratively explore innovative food systems. Through conversations with local farmers, the project addresses key challenges such as land availability, community creation, and sustainable growth. Guided by Rhode Island's strategic plans and design manuals, the hub integrates an electrical substation, self-sufficient water system, and hydroponic farming, presenting a unique blend of urban and coastal elements. Positioned strategically, it becomes a catalyst for collaboration among the public, food system stakeholders, and students, showcasing Rhode Island's journey towards a self-sufficient, sustainable, and inclusive food system
