This design research offers a comprehensive exploration of recent global changes in urban food supply chains across three major metropolitan cities worldwide: Rome, Tel Aviv, and Los Angeles. It suggests a unique multi-scale methodology for examining the local expressions of global trends through the lens of food chains.
The reading of the drawings is structured through a matrix of three cities and four scales. L denotes the global flow at the urban level. M indicates the urban features that are being affected, such as the Roman piazza, the Tel Avivian Colonnade, and the American parking lot. S represents vehicular involvement, focusing on traffic dynamics and accessibility. Lastly, XS highlights the human scale and labor changes, capturing the impact on social interactions and labor dynamics within each city.
